Video redaction: FAQ

What is video redaction?

Video redaction, also called video anonymization, means hiding details that identify people, such as faces and license plates, with blur, pixelation or a solid cover before footage is shared or released.

How does AI video redaction work?

BlurMe's AI checks each frame for faces and license plates, covers them and follows them as they move. You review the result, exclude anyone who should stay visible and draw over anything that was missed.

Can I redact CCTV footage?

Yes. Upload CCTV or dashcam footage and faces and license plates are found and covered automatically. You can also try it first with the sample CCTV video.

Can I redact multiple videos at once?

Yes. Batch processing applies the same settings to several files at once. It's available on Pro and above.

Can the AI track a moving face in a redacted video?

Yes. Once found, faces and license plates are followed frame by frame to the end of the video. Check the result on the timeline and fix any frame before you export.

Can I adjust the blur or pixelation settings?

Yes. Choose blur, pixelate or a solid cover, and adjust the strength and size. You can also give each target a different effect.

Do I need any software or downloads to use BlurMe?

No. BlurMe runs in your browser, so you can redact videos on any computer without installing anything.

Is BlurMe secure and privacy-compliant?

Uploaded files are stored encrypted and you can delete them at any time. They're never used for AI training. Whether redacted footage meets a rule such as GDPR depends on how it's used, so review the export before you release it.
